ECO Build
BICC (Building Industry Consultative Council) is an advisory council made up by all stakeholders involved within the construction sector. Its main aim is to advise the government on construction issues and also to assist the government in implementing the EU legislation and directives to ensure that Malta satisfies the commitments towards the 2020 energy targets. The current Executive Chairman is Hon. Perit Charles Buhagiar
BICC, in collaboration with the Regulator for Energy & Water Services (REWS) has developed a green building technology website (www.ecobuild.gov.mt.) The principle aim of this website is to provide an online information platform for users ranging from homeowners to developers and construction professionals on the availability of green building technology products and services. The website aims to educate property owners looking into constructing or improving the property eco rating by providing floor by floor locally available products typically used in every part of the dwelling.
BICC is at the moment populating the website with more applicable products, together with services by tradesmen and professionals in the same field and applicable skill development courses, hence offering a one stop online directory for products and services related to Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Energy Saving. All suppliers and products in the grant schemes currently administered by REWS namely Photovoltaic, Solar Water heater, Heat Pump Water Heater, Domestic Well and Roof Insulation and Double Glazing are invited to registered with the Eco Build website.
Suppliers pertaining to the above schemes together with other energy efficiency related products are encouraged to register their products with the website and the public is invited to regularly visit the website in order to locate any products or services they may need.
